Versioning rules
- Publishing creates a version
- It never edits one. A policy is immutable once published, which is what lets a decision made under it stay explicable a year later.
- Decisions bind to a version
- Every decision records the version in force at the time. Replay reads that version, not the current one.
- Pending versions change nothing
- Two versions await approval on Research Commerce. Decisions continue under v18 until an institution approves, because a draft is not a rule.
History is never mutated
There is no path in this product to amend a published version, including for a typo. The correction is a new version superseding the old, so the record shows both what was in force and what replaced it.
